Many of us use curtains for our windows because they are easy to clean and to install. All you have to do is slide them onto the rod and place the rod into the window. It is simple and takes five minutes tops. But not all of us like curtains. They have a tendency to either let too much light in or not enough and at times don’t give us the privacy we want.

Though many types of blinds may be more difficult to clean and install they do give us more options and allow us to control the amount of privacy or light we want. Installing them requires the use of a power drill, screwdriver, tape measure, and a pencil.

First you will need to purchase the type of blinds that you want. Personally I believe that the mini white blinds are boring and break too easily. Though they are cheap they can make your home look quite boring. Basswood blinds or Venetian blinds are great because they have an elegant look to them and can be found in a variety of colors and styles.

Installing basswood blinds is simple as long as you follow the instructions carefully. I can give you an idea on what you will need to be doing but it is best to pay attention to the directions that came with the blinds you purchased.

You will need to mark with your pencil the area that the bracket of the blinds will need to be placed. Use your measuring tape to make sure they are aligned properly.
Drill the holes and set the fastener into them.
Use the screwdriver to fasten the bracket.
Repeat on other side
Once they are secure open the door to the bracket and slide the blinds inside. Close them and mount the valance.
