Women who have impossibly frizzy, thick hair have trouble trying to calm it down. Many will use shampoos, conditioners, and creams that claim to smooth the flyways and make it straight for us. But it does not take long for them to realize just how false these claims are. It is going to take more than just simple creams to calm that hair down.

I am one such person that has this type of hair and it took me years before I found the solution to my problem. When I was a child my mother would help me to control my waist length curly hair by putting it in a braid every night before bed after a shower. When I woke up I would pull it out and it would be wavy and not as frizzy as it was.

Unfortunately as an adult I do not have the means to braid my hair and cutting it short all the time is something that I did not want to do. I love long hair and wanted to find a way to keep it that way. After using creams that never did what they promised I came across something that would change my life forever – the ceramic flat iron.

A flat iron is just like a curling iron except that it straightens the hair instead of curling it. It uses heat to take the hair, de-frizz it, and give us hair that is thick – but looks relatively calm and thin. They are easy to use and they are able to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time.

The only thing that you have to be careful of is how you can protect your hair from the heat. Over time the heat will damage the hair and cause split ends. However, you can purchase special products that will protect it from the heat as best as it can.
