A platform lift is a machine that is powered to hold and lift wheelchairs and the people who are using them. It gives them the ability to overcome obstacles that may be in their way by lifting them up and over them. There are many different types of these lifts – which are used by companies and individuals who are not able to walk well on their own.

Wheelchair Platform Lifts

These are the most commonly used lifts that can be found on the back of vans or trucks. With a wheelchair platform lift the owner is able to place their chair on the lift and secure it into place. Once they are safely in the car the lift will rise off the ground through a special control pad and allow the owner to take it with them wherever they go.

This lift is able to hold both standard and powered wheel chairs and are very easy to use. There are other types of these lifts that are built into the van itself. These allow the person to drive their chair onto the lift which will then pick both the chair and the owner up and slide them securely inside the vehicle. This is easier for many people because it does not require them to navigate around the vehicle.

Platform Stair Lifts

These types of lifts are used to help people up and down their stairs with no problems. They are built along the wall of the staircase in the home. The chair will sit on a special rail that will bring the chair and its owner up and down whenever they need access.

These are operated by special remote controls on the arm of the chair and are usually battery powered. There are many different types of stair lifts that are used for different homes and different types of staircases. They can also be used on stairs outside of the home.
