Mobility scooters are used by people who have trouble walking around on their own. These are much better to use then the standard wheelchairs because they are easier to maneuver and do not require as much upper body strength.

Most of the people that use these power wheel chairs will need them for long periods of time because their condition is worsening or they have been paralyzed. Others are only injured for a certain time and may not need it longer then a few months or a year. Because of this they are afraid to purchase one.

It is true that mobility scooters – like any type of medical equipment – can be quite expensive running up to $4,000 if not more. It is possible that your insurance company will cover the cost or partial of it – but in some cases they will decide not to because the time you need it for is not long enough.

Instead of purchasing one that is brand new you can instead rent one. There are many stores that will give you the option to rent mobility scooters. It is such a necessary thing that many of the larger companies that usually rent out cars alone (like Avis) will rent them out to people. You can easily book your rental over the internet. It is similar to the way that you would be booking a car when you go out on a trip.

There are some people who own their own scooter – but find it difficult to bring it with them why they fly anywhere. They will live it behind and instead will rent one out for the duration of their stay. This allows them to keep theirs from getting damaged or lost.

Usually renting mobility scooter will only cost between $20 to $50 a day. This is very reasonable for many people. You will find that it will be more cost efficient for you and help you to save hundreds of dollars.
