How many of us have needed a special procedure or medication administered to us spur of the moment and prayed that our insurance would cover the costs? Life is unpredictable and sometimes things can happen to us that we do not expect. This includes medical conditions.

For some people it may be as simple as the flu that requires special antibiotics – but for others it could be arthritis or a tragic accident that requires us to stay off our feet. When this happens it requires special medical attention and a wheel chair that will help to stay mobile and able to live our lives.

Many of us who are no longer able to walk and use our legs will do what we can to get our hands on a power wheel chair. These are easier to use then standard wheel chairs because they are more comfortable and allow us more mobility to move both inside and outside of our homes.

The one fear that people have when purchasing one of these is the price that is needed to pay for them. These chairs can cost as much as $5,000 or more depending on the model that you choose and the features that they come with. The one hope that people have is that their insurance will handle the chairs.

In order for Medicare or their insurance to cover power wheel chairs they need to meet a few requirements. These requirements require that you prove that you need the chair for a medical condition that will keep you bed ridden for at least more then six months if not longer.

Those who meet the necessary requirements will have the chair paid in full or at least most of it taken care of. If you are still required to pay for some of the chair then you might be able to make a payment plan with the company you are purchasing from or you might be able to finance it.
