Growing up I was surrounded by men who were in the military and who took everything seriously. I was taught to analyze every book you read and movie you watched. I was even taught to analyze the actions that people took and how it would affect me every step of the way. It is no wonder that I took to humor and jokes so much.

Despite my rather strict upbringing I loved to have fun and to experience the laughter that people could share. It was something that could not be denied and even though I knew how to have fun it was a bit difficult to try to come up with my own jokes that I could share with people while on stage.

The first thing that I did was sit down with a notebook and pen and try to think of funny things that people love to joke about. It took me a few days to figure out that this was not the best way to start. Rather than make fun of people and things that others that was funny I knew that I had to start with my own life.

So I jotted down all of the funny things that had happened in my life over the years that I had lived. The experiences that happened when I was little and that would always be with me and the things that me and my friends had done that was absolutely crazy. I just put a small twist on it all to make it more hilarious than it originally was.

After pulling off a few of these stories and getting the laughter from the crowd I knew that I was ready to graduate to something a bit more tricky – but that would really amuse the people. So I began to pull from the things that would be funny.

Since I live in the south I knew it was safe to say that people would love and really be able to appreciate the funny redneck jokes that I had come up with. This is a common thing and between the tractors, dogs, and bad girlfriends I came up with a ton of material that everyone loved.
