Many of us will use a do it yourself stair lift when we are no longer able to walk up and down the stairs that are inside of our home. When this happens we could simply sell the home that we live in or live downstairs. Of course the better option is to take back some control and install a stair lift that will give us our freedom back.

These are easy enough to install and to use for people of all ages. Older people who are not familiar with how technology works are still able to use it with no problems. It is basic! All you have to do is sit on the chair and press the joystick in the direction that you need to go in.

There might be a time though when the machine will have problems. That is why you must make sure to have it maintained every few weeks. In order to make sure that this is going to happen you first have to know how to disable it so that it can be done.

The first thing that you need to do when you are disabling your Bruno stair lifts is to remove the key out of the switch that is mounted to the wall. This is usually placed at the top of the stairs beside the operation rocker button. Also remove the key from the switch at the bottom of the stairs.

Next you will need to remove the key out of the operating panel that is on the chair. Once these three have been taken out the chair will be completely disabled and you will not be able to use it. However, it might help to take more steps to make sure.

Before you begin to clean it you need to take out the battery from the backup system mounted under or near the stairs. Also take out the batteries from the remote transmitters that came with the unit. Now take the power cord out of the lift that connects it to the electrical system. Lastly trip the breaker that powers the stair chair lift.
