There are many different types of birth control that couples will use when they do not want to have children. The most common of these is the pill or even the shot. However, these were made to be used until the couple have changed their minds. What should they use when they decide they are done having children?

One of the most common permanent forms of birth control is the tubal ligation surgery. During this procedure the doctor will give the woman anesthesia and while she is asleep he will tie off, cut, or clip her fallopian tubes. This will prevent her from having any children if it is done correctly.

This is a decision that should not be made lightly. It is important that you know just how permanent it is and all of the risks you make when you go through it. Once you have decided to have it done you need to find the best way to pay for it all. Understand that this procedure could cost anywhere between $10,000 to $15,000 if not more.

Most, if not all, insurance companies will not pay for this surgery. They believe that it is an expensive option and they would rather pay for the cheaper forms of birth control. This means that you have to pay for the whole thing on your own and without any help from them.

The cost of tubal ligation can be paid for out of pocket or you can find a bank that will finance you. Another option is to start up a payment plan through the doctor’s office. Once you have paid it off you can have the surgery done. Most offices will not perform the procedure until this is all paid for. So make sure you do it as quick as you are able to.
