I am someone who loves change. I have a hard time staying in the same house for more than a year and an even harder time in the same city. Growing up my family moved around a lot and we traveled at least every year. It was exciting to see new places and discover new cultures.

Moving is something that most people do not like because of how stressful it can be. It is true that it takes a lot of hard work to pack up everything you belong and move it into an entirely new place that might be hundreds of miles away. The trick is stay calm and relaxed and to accomplish everything in such a way that the stress is removed.

Start Early

First off you should always pack up your home as early as possible. I have gone so far as to start packing up my least important rooms six months before I was supposed to move. Some might say it is premature – but I think it is being prepared. Doing it this early also gives you more time to sift through your junk and throw away anything you don’t wish to keep.

Be Prepared

Make sure that you are prepared for everything that needs to be done. Create a checklist telling you what supplies you need and what preparations must be made to the home you are leaving and the one you are moving into. It would be bad to move to the new home with no power.

Ask For Help

Don’t feel that you have to do everything on your own. You have a lot of junk and trying to pack it up can be hard. Ask friends for help with packing the boxes and then packing the moving truck. Bribe them with pizza and beer or even pay someone to help you. It is cheaper than hiring a moving crew.
