I don’t always understand what triggers it – but I know that my sinuses hate it when the seasons change. Especially when you live in the south and it cannot decide whether it wants to be hot or cold. One day it is almost freezing and the next day it feels like summer again. This can really mess with a person’s head and with their sinuses.

Most everyone has to deal with sinus problems. Every once in awhile it will be triggered by other health problems like the common cold or simply because of the weather change. With it you will experience a stuffy head, runny nose, itchy eyes, and headaches that seem to keep you from wanting to do anything. Luckily there are a few things that you can do to treat it.

The first thing you need to do is to sleep. I know that you have tons of homework to do or a project at work that is coming due. However, you are not going to be any good to them or to your family if you can’t think enough to do them. Go to bed early and try to take one or two days off to rest. Sleep will boost the immune system.

What better food can make you feel better other than chicken noodle soup? It is even better if your grandma can make it! Make sure to eat it while it is hot. The heat will help to clear your sinuses, if only a little, and will soothe your aching throat.

Steam is a great way to try to relieve any congestion that you might have in your chest and to relieve the pressure around your sinuses. Boil up some water and put a towel over your head while sitting over the bowl. If this is hard to do than simply buy a humidifier.

To help clear the nasal passages you will want to purchase an irrigation system. This is the best way to treat sinuses. Simply follow the instructions and try to do this every day or until you are feeling better.
