Everyday we are being reminded of the obesity rate in America. Just last night I was watching for the premiere of ‘The Biggest Loser’ and was astounded at the increased rate this problem is traveling at. Adults and children alike are overindulging in fast foods and poor lifestyles and it is causing a slew of other health problems.
There are some experts that will tell you obesity is a disease. This is not true. A disease is a condition that is difficult or at times impossible to treat and is often caused by the way that our bodies work. Obesity is a problem that we incur upon ourselves. The only way to treat it is to get up off the couch and exercise!
The first thought in your head is going to be that you are either too busy or can’t afford a gym membership. That’s fine because there is a way around both of these problems. Work out at home! It’s simple and you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive equipment.
What you need are comfortable clothes, water, and two dumbbells (choose pounds you can handle). Make sure that you do exercises on a Yoga mat or carpet. Otherwise you will hurt your back.
For thirty minutes to an hour every day go to your home gym basement and do a set of push ups, sit ups, lunges, squats, curls, and steps. These are things that will help you to increase muscle strength and get your heart rate up. Cardio is the best way to burn calories and stepping in one place or walking around your neighborhood is a great cardio workout. Just put on some music and you will find yourself able to walk for miles without losing your focus and stopping early.
