It makes me happy to see that magazines, books, and even television shows are promoting a healthy life and trying to encourage people to lose unneeded weight. There are too many of us who will spend the majority of our time on the couch eating junk food and less time walking around our neighborhood.

If you have kids than you need to fully understand how your actions or lack thereof will affect them as they grow up. The best way to promote good health to your children is to change the way that you live your life and to make it fun for them also. This does not mean that you have to become a vegan or go nuts. The best way to do this is to make small changes that can be easily incorporated into your daily routine.

Healthy Eating

The best place to start is with your eating habits. It is time to cut back on the amount of fast food that you eat. I live a busy life and I often don’t have the energy it takes to cook. That is when I try to pick easy to make meals. One week I will cook fish and asparagus in the same pan and season it with lemon juice and Mrs. Dash seasoning.

On some other nights I will have a salad for dinner full of eggs, spinach, tomatoes, cheese, and avocado. Make sure that your kids eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and if you have to eat out go to places like Subway or Chick-Fil-A that offer healthy, low calorie meals.

How many of us complain that we don’t have the time in our busy days to go to the gym? Who says you have to exercise at the gym? All you need to do is workout at least half an hour every day. After dinner you and the kids can go walking around the neighborhood or riding your bikes.

Why not also try to teach them how to do sit ups and push ups? You can make a competition out of it and give them an incentive to do it. My three year old loves to mimic me while I use my Pilates machine. She even has her own one pound dumbbells!
