The home should be the safest place for us and our kids. This is not the case for those people who take forever to clean up their dirty dishes or wash the piles of laundry that has been stacking up for days! Chores like this are a nuisance – but we do them for a reason.
One of the biggest problems that can occur from a dirty home is mold. This is a silent problem that we often don’t even think about. This toxic substance flourishes in areas that are damp, dark, and dirty. There are a number of places inside of a home that it can grow and that you should learn to keep clean at all times.
Refrigerator And Pantry
The refrigerator and pantry are the first things to look at. Go inside and look at the bread or leftovers that have been sitting there for days or even weeks. You notice something green and fuzzy? That isn’t a new pet that is toxic green mold and it can be harmful to your health. Throw the food away when it has reached its expiration date. Better yet try to eat all the food that you have or don’t buy so much!
The next best place to look is anywhere you have laundry. I know that we all have busy lives – but when you allow your dirty clothes and damp towels to sit around for days at a time you are going to have a problem. It only take a few hours for the substance to start growing on wet clothes.
Make sure to lay any towels or wet clothes out to dry before throwing them in the dirty clothes. Do them when you get home from work and clean out the laundry basket regularly. You won’t be able to spot the house mold easily – but it is there.
