According to research and statistics one of the best ways to get in shape and to lose weight is to do cardio workouts. That is why so many gyms provide a large array of treadmills for everyone to use. The more time you spend on the treadmill the higher your cardio or hear rate will be and the more calories you will burn.

Not all of us have the time that is needed to go to the gym on a daily basis. To make up for this we will purchase a treadmill for the home. If you are on a strict budget than you might have to forgo the high tech electric model for something more affordable.

A manual treadmill might sound unappealing because it does not have all the bells and whistles that we want. However, it does have its advantages and is a great start to a grueling workout regimen. The first and most important advantage to look at is price. Research the different models and try to read reviews on all of them. You could find one that costs as little as $100. This is better than paying $2,000 for an electric model.

Most of us don’t always have the right amount of room for a truly efficient home gym. The one thing that you have to consider is how large the unit will be. Manual models do not have a motor and are therefore a good deal smaller. Some are even able to fold down and out of the way.

Besides how much we are going to spend we need to consider what type of a workout we are going to get with a manual treadmill. Most would think that an electric model would be better – but this isn’t always the case. When using a manual model you will be able to increase your cardio as much as you need it to be. You control the machine and determine your own speed.
