The cabinets in the kitchen make up 50% of the kitchen. These are ordered up on virtually every wall of the kitchen and they master how it will appear. That is why when you wish to redo the region it is better to start with the cabinets. Rather than replacing them why not save hundreds of dollars and refinish them?

The first thing you need to do is take everything out of all of the cabinets and drawers. It may be best to place them in boxes or along the table. Don’t make a mess when you do this. You don’t need to have care for too much after this big job.

When everything is gone take the shelves down. As you do this it will be wise to look at each one and ensure that none of the cabinets and drawers are weakened or damaged in anyway.

Before you are able to get to the nitty gritty stuff you have to lay down canvases or tarp over the counters and floors. Remove the handles and hinges and place them somewhere where they do not have the ability to get lost.

Use a mold detergent to clean everything off. Ensure that you rinse it off and allow them to dry. Any holes and old ones for the hinges need to be stuffed with wood putty or wood dowels..

Now they are ready to be given a brilliant new look. Select either a shade of varnish or a paint color. Do what you can to be imaginative and choose something that will match the look of the remainder of the kitchen. Remember though that these have the ability to control the theme. When painting the refinished kitchen cabinets you have to apply two thin coats. Make sure they are completely dry before you put them back up.
