As the years go by it is amazing to see how everyone and everything advances. Technology is something that did not exist two hundreds years ago. At least not in the way that we use it and see it. Now it is something that we cannot live without. Technology provides us with everything that we need and use this includes lighting up our homes and offices.

There are many different types of light bulbs – but none is more commonly used than the incandescent light bulb. This type of light bulb is a heat driven light that works through the use of electricity. When turned on the electric current travels through a small and narrow filament that will heat up until the bulb is able to produce light.

During this process the glass bulb does not allow the oxygen in the air to travel to the filament that is hot. If the oxygen were to reach the filament it would destroy it due to oxidation.

Incandescent light bulbs are available in a variety of voltages and sizes that can be used in every home. The voltage settings range from 1.5 to 300 volts. When making these bulbs there is no outside regulating equipment and the cost to manufacture them is very low. Because of this the bulbs are able to be sold for a lower price than most other bulbs. That is one of the biggest reasons why consumers will choose this type above the others.

People often use these light bulbs in to light up their homes, in flashlights, decorative lighting, and for their car’s headlights. During the cold months these bulbs can come in handy because they can generate heat. Unfortunately during the summer months this heat build up works against you to increase the amount of usage in your air conditioner.

People all across the world believe that the heat that builds up from incandescent light bulbs sucks too much energy from someone’s home and requires them to spend more in energy bills. That is why they are encouraging consumers to replace these bulbs with special energy saving light bulbs. These bulbs are made to last longer and to save money on high energy bills.
