The pantry is one of the most unkempt places in the entire kitchen. Without the correct items we will find that it will remain this way. It is important to understand how to organize the pantry and design it so that it is easy for us to store all the food and keep track of everything. When everything is confused together you will have a tough time trying to acquire the spices you want or learn that your potatoes went bad last week.

Before you are going to do anything you have to take everything out of the pantry and throw anything away that has gone bad or has been infested with ants. Bugs are a problem with most pantries because people are not sealing off their flour, sugar, or cereals in the correct way.

Anything that might become loose like this needs to be packed away in an air tight container. These may be as large or small as they need to be – but they need to be able to stack on top of each other. This will make it simpler for you to use the space given to you.

The next thing that you have to do is to place down a liner along the shelves. This is low-budget and can be found at any supermarket. This will serve to keep the shelves clean and to keep the items from falling over. All you have to do is measure the shelves, cut out the lining, and set it down.

If you want spare space than buy a hanging shelf. These are long, cost around $30, and hang from the door. It is made with a number of shelves running down the pantry door and helps to keep your bigger items from taking up too much space.
