How many times have you told yourself that you were actually going to do something about your yard this year? It is easy enough to rake the leaves and mow the grass – but there are so many ways in which you can turn your lifeless yard into something worth showing off!

Look at your yard (no matter how small it might be) and make a list of everything that is wrong with it. There are some that don’t even have grass but patches of dirt or sand. Do you have bushes around the home that look partially dead or a small tree that is out of place?

Sometimes you do not need to do much in order to improve upon it. Try laying down sod on the dirt patches and create a yard full of lush, green grass. It is a hard job but it can be relatively inexpensive and it is quite simple. After you have put down the new grass consider putting in a few flower bushes along the side of the house.

Roses are the most beautiful flowers to have and they are not difficult to maintain. Visit your local nursery and speak with them about the type of flowers that are easy to maintain and would thrive with little help from you. The less maintenance you have to do the better and easier it will be for you to keep a nice yard.

If you really want to be extravagant you can have a pond installed in your front or back yard. Many of these have to be placed inside of the ground so you have to dig a hole that is deep and wide enough for it. After that you have to decide if you want plants or fish inside of it or if you want it to be a fountain pond. These can be difficult and expensive to maintain so think hard before you get one.

My personal favorite addition to the yard is a garden canopy. These are simply but beautiful and provide a shading for people who wish to read a book or simply sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. They can be small or large and are easy to set up and take down when needed.
