When people go to the gym to exercise they usually will use the weight machines first. This helps to get the harder workout out of the way and to jump start their heart rate. Once they have exhausted everything that they are able to use they will jump on either the elliptical or the treadmill.

These two machines are both helpful in giving people the cardio workout that they need to burn away fat and keep their metabolism going. Although they both are similar they are used very differently. So which one do you use? This is a question that many people ask themselves.

There are some people who will claim that the elliptical offers a much better workout because you are moving it in a way that calls for more resistance and are working out more areas of your lower body. Others believe that the treadmill is better because it allows you to run or fast walk without being outside and can condition your body for this.

In reality neither machine is better then the other. It is personal preference that will help you to decide which one you wish to use. Some people will use both in intervals while others will stick to only one. There are advantages to the elliptical and treadmill – but it depends on the type of workout you wish to have.

It is best to stick with the one that will give you the best workout and help you to lose weight and get in shape. Also find something that your body can handle. Some people have to use the elliptical because their knees don’t allow them to walk or run on the treadmill. Decide what your body can handle and stick with it.
