Most bathtubs that we use are made with porcelain while others are made with fiberglass. Fiberglass has a much better look to it that gives it a gloss appearance and is quite durable compared to most other materials that are used. However, this is only true when you are taking care to clean it when necessary.

One of the reasons why people prefer them over porcelain is that they do not chip and cannot be discolored as easily as others. But again we stress that in order to make sure of this you have to be taking care of it and cleaning it on a regular basis. One of the best things that you can use when cleaning fiberglass bathtubs is a sponge that is often used for the fixtures.

These are built with a sponge on one side and a scratch pad on the other. Do not worry because the scratch pad is non abrasive and will not scratch it. This will help to remove any build up of dirt, soap scum, and hard water stains. They can only be used a few times so you will need to buy many of them at one time.

Turpentine and salt is a great mixture that you can use when cleaning the fixtures in the fiberglass tub. You will need just one cup of salt to six tablespoons of turpentine. Just make sure that the doors and windows are open because this can be very strong to work with. Once you have cleaned with it and rinsed it off you will notice how great it will look.

Another great way to clean it is to make a paste with water a baking soda. This is best used on the floor and walls of the tub. It will also help to clean the drains as it is rinsed off. In order to keep your tub looking clean for a longer period of time you should use a wax on it.
